OUR HISTORY
Built in 1905, the historic Joe’s Tavern is small neighborhood bar with a rich history. It has operated on and off for over a century on the corner of Dunham and Arnold streets on the near west side of South Bend — about a five minute drive from downtown.
The tavern has been through serious booms and busts over the years — Oliver Chilled Plow Works, Studebaker, Prohibition, and waves of workers moving to South Bend for jobs. Back in the early 1990s, Joe’s was featured in the movie “Rudy” as the setting for the bar fight between Rudy and his brother over his dream of playing football for Notre Dame.
